Over time, as we constantly use our power boxes, a short in the power box jack or the lead wires happens. Many times we ask ourselves if it is in the lead wires themselves or could it be in the female connection to the power box itself. If you do not have an Oms meter handy to test the leads, you don't really know if it is the leads causing the problem or maybe the output jacks on the power box. Most of the time it is due to leads just wearing out and the small strands of copper wires inside them breaking with use. However, once in awhile, it could be the unit.We located an inexpensive and unique, but effective way to test the power box with an audible tone generator. You can simply plug this small device into your unit, turn it on and as you turn up the power and adjust the signal output, you will actually hear the tones coming out of either Channel A or Channel B, depending on which one you have it plugged into. When you hear the tones, you immediately know it is not a problem with your power unit and just a lead that needs to be replaced. This tester comes with a 3.5mm audio input jack and will plug directly into any unit using 3.5mm leads. If you happen to have a TENS unit or a unit that has a 2.5mm input jack, all you need it one of our adapters to convert to use this tester. You may already have an adapter you previously purchased and won't have to buy one.To use the tester on a TENS unit, you have two options. One is to purchase a TENS socket to 3.5mm audio adapter wire and plug the tester into it as shown in the picture below. Another way to make the connection, although a little more complicated, is to use a TENS lead to 2.5mm audio adapter and then a 2.5mm male to 3.5mm female adapter. Once wired, just plug the tester into the 3.5mm end of the adapter. You may already have the necessary adapters and set up for this if you have a TENS unit and are using a Rimba or some Zeus power boxes and using a Zeus or Rimba electrode (plugs mostly). All you would need then is a 2.5mm male to 3.5mm female adapter. Below is a picture illustrating this testing connection..If all else fails and you are at a loss for what adapters or wiring you might need, just drop me a line at gary@happystim-usa.com or give me a call at 618-343-4344. I will be able to tell you exactly what you need after talking with you for just a few minutes.
